CONTROL
Homemade pepper or tobacco sprays can be effective but must be reapplied regularly to control the problem. Pyrethrum, rotenone, and Safer's soap are all very effective against spider mite infestation. Generally, you want to apply any foliar spray every four or five days, until the infestation subsides. several species of predatory mite are available as biological control, including phytoseiulus longipes. Each is effective to varying degrees depending on environmental condition, some in cooler condition. Some prefer low humidity, while other do well in damper climates. The key to using predatory mites to control spider mites is to introduce them into garden in the early stages of an infestation and maintain moderate climatic condition. You'll need ti introduce one predatory for about every 25-30 pests.
